Rachel Bailit is a dynamic actress with credits spanning film, television, and stage. She stars as Simone Deville in “Everyone Asked About You,” an actress grappling with the repercussions of childhood stardom.
Her recent film credits include the upcoming “Eight Days to Cabo” and “Diary of a Spy.” Rachel’s earlier work includes “Festival in Cannes,” directed by Henry Jaglom for Paramount, and acted alongside Jim Carrey in Ron Howard’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Television audiences may recognize Rachel from appearances on “The Conan O’Brien Show,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Jon Benjamin Has a Van,” “Tim and Eric’s Awesome Show,” “NYPD Blue,” and as “Marissa” on “General Hospital.” She also stars in two web series: “Diary of an Actress” and “The Vamps Next Door.”
Rachel is the host of the “Diary of an Actress” podcast—an extension of her popular column in The Los Angeles Independent. The show features interviews with actors, directors, producers, authors, politicians, and artists.
On stage, Rachel’s one-woman show “Sugar Happens,” based on her life and written by Emmy-winning writer Sherry Coben, ran for five years in Los Angeles and Off-Broadway. The show was produced and directed by David Lee Strasberg, with a later version directed by Phil Ramuno, and filmed twice at The Comedy Central Stage at the Hudson Theater.
She recently appeared in the premiere of “In the Mood” by Stephen Fife at The Ark Theater in Burbank, and portrayed Janette in “My Dinner with Trixie,” written by Janice Pryor and directed by Dawn Simmons at the Cambridge Multi-Cultural Center. Rachel also starred in the debut of William Threadgold’s “Men, Women and Doppler Radar” at The Promenade Playhouse in Santa Monica, and participated in staged readings of Drew Katzman’s “Where’s Andy” in both New York and Los Angeles.
As a member of The Classical Theater Lab in Los Angeles, Rachel’s classical credits include “A Woman Killed with Kindness” by Thomas Heywood, Shakespeare’s “Henry IV” and “The Merry Wives of Windsor” (as Mistress Ford, directed by Elizabeth Huffman), and Oscar Wilde’s “A Woman of No Importance.” At The Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, she appeared as Libby in Clifford Odets’ “Paradise Lost,” directed by Hedy Sontag. She also played April in John Patrick Shanley’s “Savage in Limbo,” directed by Tom Badal at the Marilyn Monroe Theater.
In addition to acting, Rachel wrote the popular column “Diary of an Actress” for The Los Angeles Independent, later turning it into a blog and YouTube series. She’s also worked extensively as a model for animation and video game studios throughout Southern California, including Disney Animation, DreamWorks Animation, Sony Imageworks, Nickelodeon (“The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” “American Dad”), Blizzard Entertainment, Naughty Dog, Sony Online, Obsidian Entertainment, and Mattel Toys.
Rachel has hosted events at CBS Studio Center for CDI Kids and “New York in Hollywood,” benefiting the CSUN Music Therapy Clinic.
